Pokemon RUBY

Game: Pokemon Ruby Version
Platform: Game Boy Advance
Rating: E
Release Date: March 17, 2003
Developed by: Game Freak
Published by: Nintendo

Pokemon Ruby Version is the counterpart to Pokemon Sapphire Version. In Ruby, you are fighting along side Team Aqua against Team Magma. Playing either as Brenden or May, three of the best Pokemon are you options for starters: Treecko (Sceptile), Torchic (Blaziken), or Mudkip (Swampert).
The story is pretty simple; stop Team Magma, save the world from disaster (if you've played far enough you know what I mean), and collect all 8 gym badges.

The game takes place in the Hoenn Region, and you cannot travel out of it. over 100 new Pokemon have been added, and some are Ruby Exclusive (such as Seedot and its evolutions, Solrock, and Groudon). There are many sidequests and things to do in this game; with each gym there is usually a required side quest like foiling Magma's plans. You can either run, ride a bike, or take to the high seas via Surf.

With this game comes some of the most epic Game Boy Advance music there is! The battle music (especially with legendaries) is spectacular and the Gym themes have out done themselves. The graphics are what you would expect of a Game Boy game, but the detail is magnificent! Each Pokemon and its attacks are very well seen, along with the places. The landscape is the only thing lacking, but with Game boy graphics there isn't much more than can be done.

The commitment towards your Pokemon is high in this game. Along your travels you find so many people who would do anything for there, and other's, Pokemon. The Pokeblock in this game is also something else. Pokemon will gladly eat Pokeblock you throw in their direction, but each Pokemon is born with a favorite kind. There are five types of Pokeblock, its divided down into colors. Each color heightens a type (Cool, Smart, Beauty, Tough, or Cute) that each Pokemon is. For example, Numel and its evolutions love the Tough (which is orange colored Pokeblock I believe) trait.

Overall, this is a very good game. And its counterpart, Sapphire, is also a well built game. Just about every part of this game is well made. The HM&TM hunt is very challenging in this game: can you collect every TM?

I give it
9.5/10
